Wrapping paper

The modern name for this type of paper no longer reflects its original meaning. When hat fashion became widespread in the first decade of the 20th century, it was used for consumer packaging of hats. Today, its use for this original purpose has declined, and other applications have come to the fore, such as bread packaging, void filling, and packaging of parts.
